The National Forest Service has closed the San Juan National Forest. This is sad, but necessary with a very low snow pack the forest is very dry. This closure is due to a forest fire currently burning south of Telluride. The conditions here are very high fire danger, with an open fire ban, this includes camp fires, charcoal grills and smoking. Now that we got the unpleasantness out of the way, we can talk about fishing. The caddis are HATCHING in big numbers, mostly in the evening, but the fish are looking for them. These bugs are smaller than fall caddis so 14 or 16. Stone flys of all sizes have stopped strike indicators. And Hoppers small hoppers, big hoppers, its that amazing time of the year when it is easy to see your dry fly.
