Summer fly fishing conditions in Telluride are excellent!

Look who's hatching in the Colorado high country! Bugs, bugs and more bugs! We're seeing lots of fish food appearing on the rivers and in the high country lakes and ponds, and that equates to excellent fly fishing conditions using all kinds of exciting flies. Hot tip for a savvy angler: one of my favorite flies - and most productive - for quiet water this time of year is the dragonfly nymph. The juveniles are approaching the banks to hatch into winged adults, and slowly stripping a dragonfly nymph fly along the bank can bring big rewards. This 4-Spotted Chaser was drying his wings & body in the grass when we found him on the bank.
