Fly Fishing is still Going off down here in Telluride!! The rivers are still running low and clear which is making the dry fly fishing and catching spectacular! The upper San Miguel and Dolores Rivers is still seeing a lot of top water action on the Royal Wulff, Outrigger Caddis, Pearl and Elk Caddis, tan and olive Schroeder Parachute Hopper, as well as the Crystal Stimulator and my favorite, the Dave's Hopper!. Afternoon monsoon showers are finally slacking off, but continuing to bring in sporadic rain that is cooling the rivers and keeping the fish active on a lot of the smaller rivers such as Fish Creek, West Fork, Coal Creek, Barlow Creek, Bear Creek and Leopard Creek. Happen to be interested interested in a chance at trophy fish, check out The State Wildlife Area tail water, Lone Dome or Ridgway State Park's tail water, Pa-co-Chu-Puk! Set up a Nymph rig with midges, scuds and emergers like the Mayhem size 20 or smaller. Find yourself at a high country lake? Alta Lakes, Trout Lake, Priest Lake, Woods Lake or Miramonte Reservior, no problem, Tie on a tungsten bead Prince Nymph size 14 or 16 and strip in slowly. Bam! They Seem to love those as well as Olive or Rust Colored Wooly Buggers and Slump Busters. I've had the best luck on the #6 rust and yellow colored Space Invader from Umpqua! For top water action try Parachute Adams Size 18 or Griffiths Gnat, PMD, Mosquito or BWO. Thankfully no mudslides this week so the lower San Miguel is continuing to clear up! If you are in Telluride, stop buy the shop and say Hello and check out our wide selection of flies, gear and accesories Tight lines my friends and have a great week!
